It all started with a tiny tube of lipstick.
My aunts were AVON ladies – and when we came to visit, I was the happiest little girl in the world. While the grown-ups had their coffee, I disappeared into my own universe. A touch of lip gloss here, a hint of perfume there. I was maybe six years old and already completely, utterly hooked. In the best possible way. I still remember my first fragrance: Sweet Honesty, and to this day I love that scent with the beautiful memories from the past.
The hair salon around the corner did the rest. While other kids played outside, I was washing out rollers and styling practice heads. The lovely ladies there just let me do my thing – they probably sensed what I didn’t yet know myself.
By the time school was almost over, the path was clear: one application, one yes, one apprenticeship as a druggist and cosmetics specialist. Sometimes life just knows where you’re headed.
What followed reads like a who’s who of the beauty world: cosmetics school, my own treatment room, my own studio, work in luxury perfumery – and then the grand stage of the industry. Shiseido. Clinique. Dior. Lancaster. Fragrance Houses. BOBBI BROWN. Mavala. And many more. Names that taught me not just products, but stories, formulas and the people behind them.
At some point, working with cosmetics wasn’t enough anymore – I wanted to understand them, really understand, and formulate and create them. So I did what any passionate beauty nerd would do – I went to university and turned my lifelong obsession into a science.
Today I am an Engineer, Cosmetic Scientist and a Cosmetic Safety Assessor – and when I look at an INCI list, I don’t just know what’s in there, but why, how much, and whether it actually delivers what it promises.
And that’s exactly what Let’s talk about Cosmetics is all about: no glossy marketing, no paid praise. Just real knowledge, honest reviews and opinions – and the passion of a little girl who never stopped loving her samples.
Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. 🌟
